Part of my Kingdom Series, inspired by the remarkable story of leopard cub Mutima and her mother Olimba. This drawing captures a quiet moment of trust and learning, as Mutima watches and absorbs the lessons that will one day help her survive on her own.

Submitted to the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation Wildlife Artist of the Year 2026 competition.

'Shadowed Waters'

The Jaguar a silent predator half emerged in the dark river waters. The charcoals deep blacks and subtle greys evoke the Jaguars seamless connection to its environment, blending strength with vulnerability. The water not just reflecting its physical presence but the shadow of what may soon be lost.

The Leopard represents strength and awe, while the firefly symbolises the quiet, often overlooked beauty of smaller creatures. Both deserve our protection, not just the mighty, but also the fragile lights that flicker quietly though the dark.

I wanted to capture both the striking beauty that still remains and the heartbreaking reality of what we stand to lose. The smudges & marks symbolising the many threats these animals face, habitat loss, poaching, and environmental change. The fading effect represents their gradual disappearance. Without urgent protection, these majestic creatures and others like them, may vanish entirely.

'Troubled Waters' (SOLD)

'Troubled Waters' holds a dual significance. On one level it reflects the peril one would face if confronted with such a formidable predator in the water, natures's raw and untamed force. On a deeper level, it alludes to the troubling reality faced by Jaguars today.
